Western PA Beekeeping Seminar Honey Festival

Discover the fascinating world of honey bees and beekeeping!

Join us for the Winter Honey Festival, held in conjunction with the Western Pennsylvania Beekeeping Seminar at Westminster College. This special event is designed for anyone curious about honey bees, interested in getting started in beekeeping, or simply looking to learn more about the important role honey bees play in our environment and food supply.

Whether you’re considering becoming a beekeeper or just want to explore the wonderful world of honey bees, the Winter Honey Festival offers something for everyone!

Festival Highlights

  • Honey Tasting Table: Discover the wonderful variety of flavors and characteristics of different honeys.

  • Honey Show: Visit the seminar’s honey show, featuring entries that showcase the beauty, quality, and diversity of honey and other hive products.

  • Beginning Beekeeping Educational Track: Attend introductory beekeeping presentations led by Westminster College students. These sessions are designed to introduce newcomers to the fundamentals of keeping honey bees.

  • Beekeeping Vendors: Explore exhibits and visit vendors offering beekeeping equipment, supplies, and other products. Meet vendors and learn about the tools and resources available to beekeepers.

  • Lunch Available: Lunch may be purchased for an additional fee.

Who Should Attend?

The Winter Honey Festival welcomes individuals and families interested in honey bees, gardening, pollinators, honey production, and beginning beekeeping. No previous beekeeping experience is necessary!

Festival Admission

$10 per adult | Free for attendees under 18 and college students

​

Winter Honey Festival admission includes access to the honey tasting table, honey show, vendor exhibits, and designated beginning beekeeping educational sessions.

​

Please note: The Honey Festival admission does not include access to the full Western Pennsylvania Beekeeping Seminar speaker series, which is designed for more experienced beekeepers and requires separate seminar registration.

Think you've got the best-looking honey, beeswax, or bee photograph? Put it to the test!

​

Our newly established Honey Show Committee is excited to bring the first-ever Honey Judging Competition to the Western Pennsylvania Beekeeping Seminar.

With more than 35 categories to choose from, there are plenty of opportunities to showcase your honey and other hive products.

​

Entries will be evaluated using American Honey Judges Association (AHJA) standards, giving participants the opportunity to have their products judged using nationally recognized criteria.

Ways to Learn More about BVABA...

Club Meetings

Regular club meetings occur at Soergel Orchards in Wexford, PA. when available. If Soergel's is not available, we will move to an online meeting or announce an updated location for the meeting.

​

Meetings begin at 6:30 p.m. with Club business discussed 6:30 to 6:45 p.m. and education and training from 6:45 to 7:45 p.m.

​
